Dawn Treader is completely packed wall to wall with books - it's incredible. Most of the bookstores around town favor form over function, yet this place definitely does not. There's an insane amount of genres hosted here, and they even have a section for rare and autographed copies.
Terry Pratchett once wrote that bookshops, real bookshops, are stuffed with so much knowledge that they warp time and space. They have winding alleys between stacks of books that end in curious little doors and seem bigger on the inside than should be possible. They smell of dry paper and if you're quiet enough, you can hear the books talking to one another. The Dawn Treader is the bookshop he described. Not only will you find vast collections of obscure AND popular books, the atmosphere here is a siren call to the booklovers soul. Once you visit here, all other book stores are lifeless in comparison.
I graduated UM in the 80's. I still get back to Ann Arbor, from time to time, and I ALWAYS stop here. I have no idea how they get the selection they have, but it's fantastic. I do so love the Strand, in NY City, however I buy more books here- somehow they have more books of the sort I'm interested in. Fantastic store.
Awesome place, if you have a chance to visit I highly suggest you do so! They can find anything. Spend an hour just wandering around looking the different artifacts throughout the store. It's been there for over 40 years, there is some really cool stuff.
I love this place. They have so many books. I could spend hours browsing.
If you'd like to sell your dusty old books or DVDs, they'll buy them from you. However, you're probably going to get a better deal selling them on Ebay.
