This looks like a great place and I certainly wouldn't want to discourage anyone from shopping here; but my recommendation would be, if you call and ask for a title, to be sure to ask the clerk to physically hold a copy of the book in hand to verify that it is in fact available.
Crazy Wisdom is a fascinating place! The tearoom upstairs is lovely, and the store offers many interesting items, including a wide selection of spiritual, metaphysical, and magic books (among others). They send me a weekly email telling what they have going on in the store, and they have many really interesting lectures, performances, group meetings and author visits. I want to spend more time there!
Absolutely love this quiet but crazy book store and tea shop. They always have that odd book that I need to complete my collections. Lots of great gift options for everyone.
I fail utterly to understand this bizarre transaction...I am told they have it, then, no they don't have it...within 20 minutes, and after I had taken the trouble to park downtown, paying for that, and walking several blocks.
Love that I am able to sit down with a cup of tea and look thru a stack of books to see whether I really want to invest in them.
The other items that the store sells, such as figurines, jewelry, occult items, make it the perfect spot for the odd items you may not be able to find at the cookie cutter book stores.
I called into the book store a little after 5 p.m. yesterday, requesting a title I was looking for. "Oh yes, we have it," I was told.
What a fun quirky little shop! Great assortment of books and giftable items, two stores, featuring a reading room and a cafe. Really loved the deep dive into niche categories - there are a bunch of sections for eastern religions and more - something difficult to find in a larger chain store. The reading room on the second floor is quiet, and there’s even an elevator so it is a fully ADA compliant store.
I get there about 20 minutes to a half hour later, the clerk can't find it, she calls her manager, and I get told they don't have it, and can't get it. There is confusion reigning here...
This is an incredibly sloppy and irresponsible way to treat customers.
