The deceptive salesmen treat you like second class customers; unless they think you've brought a loaded Brinks truck with you to spend on their sub-par furniture. They follow you around, and act suspicious of your every move, almost like the think that you're going to steal a couch if you aren't interacting with them. One salesmen told me to not waste my time looking in the clearance center section and to only look around up front, so that I could ensure that I was "assisted" by a rep. When I politely requested details on a piece of furniture that I was prepared to buy, the salesmen told me that I shouldn't bother buying it, and instead tried to sell me on something triple the price (which I had no interest in), and told me that the item I was interested in was no longer in stock, and wouldn't be in the near future (even though it was prominently displayed).
I'd think twice about shopping here. Again, our rep was great but his managers, however, were NOT. They make you feel like you're a waste of time.
The sales person in the shop first told us that the foundation was 25% off, when we paid it was only 10% off. The quality of those foundations when delivered was not good. I called the store, they promised to call me back but they never did. I had Art Van table and chairs 6 years ago, I bought similar now but they are not the same. And they delivered the chairs with different design than I ordered. That was my last time I went to Art Van, I will never come back.
Do not buy a mattress from here. I purchased a simmons mattress for $1600 assuming it would last 5+ years. Not even a year later I can already feel springs and it is starting to sag. You would be better off taking a chance on something online, you will be more likely to get what you paid for.
My other family members have sworn over the past several years to never go to Art Van for anything because they're scammers, and unfortunately we now feel that's true. In addition to this situation, a couple of our other items were delivered damaged and since repaired.
The sales people are nice enough, but the delivery people and customer service is terrible. The delivery arrived 2 hours outside of the delivery window and arrived broken. Called the same day and they said they will see about repairing it. We don't want a brand new couch that needs repairing, and they refused to repair it too. Won't be coming back here again.
In mid-June, like someone else here stated, my husband and I apparently voided a warranty, which we didn't, and yet in their system we had. So, we're stuck with a mattress we cannot do anything about. Yet, every single additional item that we purchased had a warranty (10+ items). I find it odd that the most costly item had no warranty while everything else did. Why would we have done this? Our sales rep was great and tried everything he could to help us after hearing what happened, but when he had asked another associate in the store if he could add the warranty, he had a BIG attitude, pretty much saying no because WE DECLINED THE WARRANTY. My husband and I overheard the conversation not far from us and we felt much hated after that.
This should really be a ZERO star review, but I don't have the option.
It was absolutely the worst shopping experience I've ever had. However, the joke's on you Art Van -- I spent several grand at your competitor immediately after I left your store feeling maligned.
Perhaps Art Van Furniture executives should take a page out of IKEA's play book, and ditch the intrusive and antiquated sales tactics promoted in their stores. It's easily apparent from the plethora of horrible online reviews of this store (and almost every other Art Van establishment), that the merchandise sold here is essentially equivalent, if not worse than the low cost self-assembled furniture sold at big box furniture stores. No wonder Art Van Eslander couldn't wait to sell his furniture junk yards to private equity firm wolves. The embarrassment of his name being attached to these hustlers must have been unbearable.
Furthermore, the TV commercials that scream that the "biggest sale of the year" is going on, is a completely exaggerated illusion. The so called super sale price was easily beat by almost all of their competitors; but Art Van changes the names on their merchandise to make it hard to do price check comparisons on the spot with your phone in their store.
