They have a great selection: some things that the big boxes don't even have.

Staff is generally friendly, the thing I love is the selection of screws and bolts in the second room. Rows and rows! I have been in there several times and they always seem to have the "odd" screw or bolt I need. It blew my mind that they even had muffler studs! Try getting those at the car parts store across the street without having to order!
I go to Stadium Hardware for hardware and hundreds of dollars worth of advice about whatever I am working on. They have helped me with plumbing, electrical, construction, and natural gas, to name a few. Their prices are competitive with and often less expensive than the big box stores.
The folks at Stadium Hardware have never been unable to help me with whatever I come in with - be it finding some really specific metric hardware, or suggesting a simpler design for a project I'm working on. They really do have everything you could think of there - including some great people who care about making sure you leave both a happy customer and set up for success on whatever it is you are working on. It's a rare day when you can stump the people working there with a problem they haven't seen before, and even then they are quick to come up with ideas on what could work. This is one of my favorite stores in Ann Arbor, and if you have some sort of hardware store need and you don't come here, you are missing out on a whole lot of knowledge, personality, and good prices.
Truly the best hardware store around. They have everything. And great sales staff.
