They were very disorganized and we didn't even get the kayak we wanted since they over booked. The kayak we got was terribly uncomfortable and cut into me every were. The seat was broken as well so I basically had to lay down and paddle. My students kayaks were full of water from the last people who used it. They told us to go to the damm, which was a very boring route and loud due to the streets above. The only redeeming quality was the girls at the docks, they were kind and patient.
We also enjoyed the kayak and canoe rental opportunities, where just myself and my three year old took the long trip down the river and it was perfect. She sat in the front with her kid size oar and had a blast!
Myself & my niece & nephew went Geocaching in the park! We found ALL 3 of our intended caching goals, 1 which was rated a level 5 in terms of difficulty! We had so much fun. We walked through the the butterfly gardens & enjoyed the nice playground.
Great place to take the family. My kids really enjoyed the new playground. The trails walk right along the water offering a lot of amazing views and places to take pictures. The park is so big that we didn't even have the chance to complete all off the trails. We look forward to going again to see all of the things we missed.
Add that this is right on the river and we spent a lot of time there the past few months of summer and fall.
A new castle like structure that focus' on music with bells, a climbing mushroom, benches, tables, chairs made perfect for enjoying a lunch outside and my favorite part was the new multi-child equipment.
Wow.
Parking can get a little crazy, but there are so many trail options and places to disperse. You will see a lot of regulars during the week which is nice....ladies take note of bridge area. I have noticed on a few occasions some shady looking characters and even groups of men sitting around cars parked in an obvious out of the norm way...stay on the main trail, it's always moderately populated.
There is a saucer swing big enough for adult to easily sit and hold smaller children or for a number of kids to swing together, a teeter totter that holds four kids instead of two, and so and so forth. This area really promotes sharing and making new friends for the children.
First time going to this park, and I decided to take my two Japanese students with me. First off the guy at the front desk was very rude, he keep rushing my students who were trying to decide what kayak they wanted. I had to finally tell him to give them a minute to look at what they wanted. They are just learning English and I wanted them to read and decide on there own, but this jerk wanted an answer in 1 minute from them.
The renovation of the back park in Gallup is sensational. There are so many "stations" that promote a different type of learning environment that there is something for every child.
